In 1992, Volkswagen introduced the Vento in Europe as a spacious four-door notchback sedan, the successor to the Jetta II; based on the Golf III, the Vento’s trump card was its 550-liter trunk. The top engine option was a 2.8-litre six-cylinder with 128 kW / 174 PS. In September 1995, the astoundingly spacious model received an update with a body-matched “Happy Face” radiator grille in the Volkswagen design language of the time. After six years, the Vento was succeeded by the Bora in Europe. In the USA, both models were marketed under the Jetta name.
