Superior towing vehicles – Tiguan, Tayron and Passat with all-wheel drive and new powerful turbocharged petrol engines
Volkswagen is expanding the drive range of the best-selling Tiguan and Passat as well as the new Tayron with the most powerful turbocharged petrol engines (TSI). These are coupled to the intelligently controlled 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. The combination of TSI and 4MOTION enables towing capacities of up to 2,200 kg (Passat and Tiguan) and 2,500 kg (Tayron with appropriate equipment). The Tiguan and Tayron SUVs can be configured as 2.0 TSI 4MOTION with 150 kW (204 PS) or 195 kW (265 PS). The Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION always comes in the more powerful 195 kW version. Sales of the new Volkswagen all-wheel drive models have begun in some markets in Europe. The turbocharged petrol engines complement the most powerful TDI engine with 142 kW (193 PS). -

The new Tayron - Media Drive
All-round SUV with charisma. The new Tayron is an all-round SUV. With up to seven seats, an extra-large luggage compartment, front- or all-wheel drive and a very high level of safety, it is perfectly suited for larger families and any leisure adventure. At the same time, the comfortable Tayron impresses as an ideal company car. Robust all-terrain features on the exterior and high-quality materials in the interior ensure that it drives through the jungle of everyday life undamaged. As a mild hybrid (eTSI), it does this as often as possible with the turbocharged petrol engine deactivated. Thanks to electric recuperation, the vehicle then drives in silent and efficient coasting mode. As the plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) variant, the Tayron runs purely electrically for up to 126 km; together, the combination of electric drive motor and high-tech turbocharged petrol engine offer a range of more than 900 km for long journeys. Equipped with a turbodiesel (TDI) or turbocharged petrol engine (TSI) with all-wheel drive (4MOTION), the SUV also masters off-road stretches with confidence and can pull trailers weighing up to 2,500 kg. The all-rounder is positioned between the Touareg (premium class) and the Tiguan (mid-sized class). The Tayron is built where it was developed: in Wolfsburg. -
The new Tayron - World premiere
Redefined – the SUV as an all-rounder. Volkswagen is launching a new SUV model on the European market: the Tayron. The five- or seven-seater sport utility vehicle is positioned between the exclusive Touareg (premium class) and the efficient Tiguan (mid-sized class). Pre-sales are due to start in the autumn. The Tayron was developed and designed in Wolfsburg, and that’s also where it will be built. The SUV’s technical basis is the latest evolutionary stage of the modular transverse (MQB evo) platform. In addition, technology systems that were first developed for the Touareg have been adapted. Examples of the technology transferred to the Tayron include the interactive IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and the seats with a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure point massage function. One thing is certain: the new Tayron is an SUV whose comfort features are best-in-class, whose appealing quality with details such as real wood trim give it a luxury-class feel, whose superior luggage compartment volume with five passengers on board reaches up to 885 litres, whose outstanding aerodynamics (drag coefficient = 0.28) decisively optimise efficiency and whose plug-in hybrid drive with over 100 km of electric range (forecast) is one of the most economical systems of its kind in the world. The Tayron is also a stylish automotive towing vehicle that – with a maximum trailer weight of up to 2.5 tonnes – is perfect for transporting horses, classic cars, motor boats or a large caravan for holidays.
