All-terrain design and premium interior. With a length of 4.79 m, the Tayron is characterised by a clean, striking SUV design. At the front, LED headlights and the standard illuminated Volkswagen badge create an unmistakeable light signature. The same applies to the rear with its full-length horizontal LED bar and illuminated Volkswagen logo. Sharply drawn lines in the elongated silhouette emphasise the high design quality of the Tayron. The five-seater and optional seven-seater interior also match this standard. The interior features high-quality finishes and – depending on the equipment – materials such as ArtVelours Eco (microfibre), open-pore genuine wood and illuminated trims.
Life, Elegance and R-Line. When you start the configurator, you immediately see that there is no classic base version of the Tayron. In line with its higher positioning, the equipment range immediately starts with the medium Life specification, which is on board as standard here – an equipment level that comes at additional cost for Volkswagen models in the segments below the Tayron. The two optional top-of-the-range versions are positioned above Life: the stylish Elegance line can be recognised on the exterior by its chrome elements in the radiator grille; the dynamically designed R-Line specification is customised by features such as a completely independent front bumper in R design. As the entry-level version, the Life version of the Tayron already offers a wide range of standard equipment. This includes details such as nine airbags, three-zone automatic air conditioner, 10-colour background lighting and a multifunctional driving experience control for controlling the driving profiles (including all-wheel drive profiles with 4MOTION) and the audio volume as well as for activating Atmospheres (pre-programmed lighting and audio moods). Also standard: an infotainment system (32-centimetre display diagonal) and App-Connect Wireless (for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), digital instruments, LED headlights including automatic main-beam control (Light Assist), illuminated Volkswagen badges at the front and rear, 3D LED tail light clusters, sunblinds in the rear doors and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Intelligently networked assistance systems. The assist systems equipped as standard in all Tayron versions include adaptive cruise control (ACC), oncoming vehicle braking when turning function, lane change system (Side Assist), lane keeping system (Lane Assist), an automatic emergency braking system including pedestrian and cyclist monitoring (Front Assist), Park Assist Plus, rear view camera system, Dynamic Road Sign Display and exit warning system. As an extension of the lane change system, the latter can – within the system limits – prevent one of the doors from being opened if another road user approaches from behind.
Technically powerful optional equipment. The optional highlights include technical systems such as the latest generation of the DCC Pro adaptive chassis control with active two-valve – instead of one-valve – shock absorbers, the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights with interactive light functions adapted from the Touareg and Travel Assist for partially assisted driving. Also available are the extended Discover and Discover Pro Max infotainment packages including online voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, a 700-watt sound system from Harman Kardon, a leather package with electrically adjustable seats including massage and ventilation function, as well as an electrically operated child safety lock for the rear. A tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof optionally extends over the passengers.
eTSI, eHybrid, TDI, TSI and 4MOTION. As described above, Volkswagen is offering the Tayron with a mild hybrid drive (eTSI), two plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid), two turbocharged petrol engines (TSI) and two turbocharged diesel engines (TDI). All drive systems are coupled to an automatic direct shift gearbox (DSG). The entry-level eTSI engine with an output of 110 kW (150 PS) is already a high-tech drive system (48 V mild-hybrid technology). However, the advantages of the electric and petrol drives are combined in the two innovative eHybrid models. They deliver a system power of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS). Thanks to the 19.7 kWh (net) battery, both Tayron eHybrids can achieve electric ranges of over 100 km. Their battery can not only be charged at AC wall boxes and charging stations, but also at DC rapid charging stations (up to 50 kW) – just like regular electric cars. The two TDI engines of the new Tayron produce 110 kW (150 PS) and 142 kW (193 PS), while the two TSI engines provide 150 kW (204 PS) and 195 kW (265 PS). Both TSI engines and the large 142 kW TDI engine are coupled to the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system as standard.
