Bandai Namco, AirConsole and Volkswagen bring PAC-MAN into the vehicle
Volkswagen is expanding its gaming offering in selected models. The PAC-MAN Championship Edition is now available in the optional AirConsole In-Car App for playing on the infotainment display in a parked vehicle. A smartphone serves as the controller. Volkswagen is the first automotive manufacturer to dynamically combine the new game with the vehicle’s background lighting and, for compatible ID. models, also with ID. Light as an option. This means that an even more immersive gaming experience is created specifically by the interior lighting responding to the game content and inputs by the players. -
China strategy is taking shape: Volkswagen presents three concept cars at Auto Shanghai
The “In China, for China” strategy of the Volkswagen brand is taking on visible form: At this year’s Auto Shanghai (April 23 to May 2), one of the world’s most important motor shows, VW’s three Chinese joint ventures will present electric concept cars. The spotlight is on an electric notchback model from FAW-Volkswagen, an electric SUV in the B segment with extended range due to range-extender technology (EREV) from SAIC VOLKSWAGEN as well as an all-electric SUV from Volkswagen Anhui. All three concept cars embody Volkswagen’s new China DNA – both in terms of technology and design and in relation to development time, which has been cut by more than 30 percent. -

The new Tayron - World premiere
Redefined – the SUV as an all-rounder. Volkswagen is launching a new SUV model on the European market: the Tayron. The five- or seven-seater sport utility vehicle is positioned between the exclusive Touareg (premium class) and the efficient Tiguan (mid-sized class). Pre-sales are due to start in the autumn. The Tayron was developed and designed in Wolfsburg, and that’s also where it will be built. The SUV’s technical basis is the latest evolutionary stage of the modular transverse (MQB evo) platform. In addition, technology systems that were first developed for the Touareg have been adapted. Examples of the technology transferred to the Tayron include the interactive IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and the seats with a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure point massage function. One thing is certain: the new Tayron is an SUV whose comfort features are best-in-class, whose appealing quality with details such as real wood trim give it a luxury-class feel, whose superior luggage compartment volume with five passengers on board reaches up to 885 litres, whose outstanding aerodynamics (drag coefficient = 0.28) decisively optimise efficiency and whose plug-in hybrid drive with over 100 km of electric range (forecast) is one of the most economical systems of its kind in the world. The Tayron is also a stylish automotive towing vehicle that – with a maximum trailer weight of up to 2.5 tonnes – is perfect for transporting horses, classic cars, motor boats or a large caravan for holidays. -
The new ID.7 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer - International Media Drive
They are the two new flagship models of the ID.7 product line and the Volkswagen ID. family: the ID.7 GTX saloon and the ID.7 GTX Tourer estate car. Both electric vehicles are united by a highly dynamic drive performance. One electric drive motor on both the front and rear axles merge on board the ID.7 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer to form the electric 4MOTION all-wheel drive. System power: 250 kW (340 PS). No other saloon or estate car from Volkswagen currently offers higher performance. The ID.7 GTX Tourer is also the most powerful Volkswagen estate ever built. It passes the 100 km/h mark in just 5.5 seconds. The saloon even completes the classic starting sprint a touch faster, namely in 5.4 seconds. The fascinating character of both GTX models is defined in particular by the noticeable punch with which full power is delivered from one second to the next. The exterior and interior are enhanced by GTX details such as distinctive bumpers and seats. The range of standard equipment has been expanded significantly: the GTX features include new 20-inch Skagen aluminium wheels, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, 3D LED tail light clusters and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear. -
The new Golf R and Golf R Variant - World premiere
Status quo of the Golf class. Volkswagen R presents the most powerful Golf models of our time: the new Golf R and the new Golf R Variant with 245 kW (333 PS). The new maximum output corresponds to an increase of 10 kW compared with the direct predecessors. As standard. This power has so far only been available in exclusive special models. The Golf R Variant has never before been available with this amount of power. The times for the classic sprint from 0 to 100 km/h have thus now been shortened to 4.6 and 4.8 seconds (Variant) respectively. In the latest generation too, the top speed can be increased by 20 km/h to 270 km/h by adding the Performance package. This makes the Golf R models the world’s fastest Volkswagens together with the Arteon R Shooting Brake.
