Three equipment lines
Life, Elegance and R-Line: In line with its elevated positioning, there is no classic base equipment specification for the new Tayron. Instead, the spectrum starts directly with the medium level Life – an equipment level that is offered as an option for the Volkswagen SUVs below the Tayron. The two equally ranked top-of-the-range versions are positioned above the Life equipment line: Elegance (refined and elegant) and R-Line (exclusive and sporty). All three equipment lines are available as mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, turbocharged petrol, turbodiesel, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.
Life – everything on board. The Tayron Life already offers a high level of standard equipment. On the exterior, this includes LED headlights with automatic main-beam control (Light Assist) plus an LED light strip between the headlights, striking 3D LED tail light clusters with a continuous horizontal LED bar, illuminated Volkswagen badges in the front and rear, ambient lighting as well as 17-inch Venezia alloy wheels with diamond-cut finish and high-gloss black inside areas. High driving and operating comfort are ensured by a three-zone automatic air conditioner with innovative air cleaning function (Air Care Climatronic), ambient lighting (10 colours), the multifunction driving experience control in the centre console (for controlling the audio volume and driving profiles including all-wheel drive profiles with 4MOTION and for activating Atmospheres as pre-programmed lighting and audio moods), an infotainment system with large touchscreen (32.7-cm, 12.9-inch screen diagonal), App-Connect Wireless (wireless integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), digital instruments (Digital Cockpit Pro) and pneumatically adjustable lumbar supports. The Tayron Life also impresses with sunblinds equipped as standard in the rear doors – designed in particular to protect children in the second row of seats.
Life – the assist systems. Numerous standard assist systems actively increase the safety of the Tayron and the protection of other road users. This spectrum includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the emergency braking system Front Assist including pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, an exit warning system (within the system limits, this system warns of potentially endangered cyclists when an inside door handle is actuated, for example), oncoming vehicle braking when turning and swerve support, Front Cross Traffic Assist, Side Assist lane change system, Lane Assist lane keeping system, semi-automatic parking system Park Assist Plus, rear view camera system and Dynamic Road Sign Display.
Life – the safety systems. At Volkswagen, safety is not a question of the equipment version. That’s why the Tayron Life is not only equipped with a comprehensive range of assistance systems, but also with an effective combination of restraint systems. In addition to the front and front side airbags as well as a centre airbag between the front seats, this also includes curtain and side airbags in the rear. A total of nine airbags are integrated in the Tayron. ISOFIX retaining rings on the outer rear seats and on the front passenger seat allow child seats to be securely fixed in position. This makes the Tayron one of the safest vehicles on the market – particularly important for families.
Elegance – exclusive character. The top-of-the-range Elegance equipment is positioned above the Tayron Life. The name says it all: in addition to the Life features, the Tayron Elegance is characterised on the exterior by elegant details such as a radiator grille with chrome-look trim, LED Plus headlights with dynamic headlight range control and dynamic cornering light, diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels with a stylish spoke design (Napoli), noise-insulating door windows and privacy glazing in the rear. Also standard: the electrically opening and closing boot lid and the Keyless Access keyless locking and starting system. The equipment is also enhanced by the memory function for Park Assist Pro. In the interior, the Tayron Elegance is characterised by additional details such as 30-colour ambient lighting with illuminated trims (doors and dash panel) as well as front sports comfort seats with massage function and seat heating. The seat centre panels are designed in ArtVelours Eco fabric, a suede-like microfibre. As a unique feature, the Tayron Elegance additionally has fine wood inserts in ash.
R-Line – sporty character. The Tayron R-Line is the sportiest model in the product line. In line with this positioning, only the Tayron R-Line is optionally available with the most powerful turbocharged petrol engine (195 kW/265 PS). In terms of standard equipment, the Tayron R-Line impresses with distinctive exterior details such as black 19-inch alloy wheels with a diamond-cut surface design (Coventry), high-gloss black instead of matt wheel arch trims and specific bumpers in R design. In the interior, the R-Line features equipment enhancements such as sports comfort seats at the front with integrated head restraints and seat centre panels in R-Line fabric, a multifunction sports steering wheel, distinctive R-Line trims, chrome-look elements and the 30-colour ambient lighting with illuminated trims in the dash panel and doors. For the first time in a Volkswagen SUV, large areas of the doors and dash panel are covered with black ArtVelours – a detail that is more familiar from luxury-class sports cars. Like the Tayron Elegance, the Tayron R-Line is equipped with LED Plus headlights including dynamic headlight range control and dynamic cornering light.
