Technical customisation
Tailor-made. Based on the three equipment lines Life, Elegance and R-Line, the Tayron can be extensively customised by means of the optional equipment. In a first step, eight exterior colours and – as specific options depending on the equipment line – eight different alloy summer wheels (17-, 18-, 19- and 20-inch) as well as three winter wheels (17- and 18-inch) are available. In addition to classic features such as the Varenna leather package with ergoActive Plus front seats (including electric adjustment, memory function, convenient entry function, seat depth adjustment, massage programs and active air conditioning), a 700-watt sound system from Harman Kardon, a fold-out ball coupling including Trailer Assist (manoeuvring aid) or a two-part tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, the optional equipment includes technical highlights such as the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, next-generation DCC Pro adaptive chassis control and Park Assist with memory and remote function. Important optional equipment in detail:
IQ.DRIVE assist systems package. The IQ.DRIVE package includes Travel Assist for assisted driving (longitudinal and lateral guidance), Emergency Assist (emergency system if driver is incapacitated), Area View (360-degree perspective), the proactive occupant protection system (automatic belt tensioning at the front, closing of windows and sliding sunroof and activation of the hazard warning lights in danger situations) as well as electrically folding exterior mirrors (driver’s side with automatic dimming and memory function).
Discover and Discover Pro Max infotainment packages. The Discover infotainment package expands the standard system to include the navigation function, IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, Comfort telephone interface and two smartphone trays with inductive charging function (15 W each) in the centre console. The Discover Pro Max infotainment system package is the highest level. Compared with the Discover package, it includes a head-up display, a large touch display with a diagonal of 380 mm (15 inches) as well as two further USB-C ports at the front and two USB-C charging sockets on the rear centre console (45 W).
Convenience package including Park Assist Pro. The convenience package including Park Assist Pro extends the Park Assist Plus equipped as standard to include a remote function and a memory function (standard for Elegance). Plus therefore becomes Pro. In principle, Park Assist initially enables assisted parking in parallel or bay parking spaces. Assisted driving out of parallel parking spaces is equally possible. The Tayron takes over control of acceleration, braking and steering for this purpose. If the memory function is also on board, the system records the last 50 metres driven and thus the parking situation. The parking manoeuvre can be stored when the SUV has come to a stop. When the Tayron reaches this starting position again, it automatically offers to take over parking. Independent driving out of a parking space is also possible. Up to five parking manoeuvres can be stored. In conjunction with the Volkswagen Park Assist Pro app, the remote function allows the Tayron to be driven into and out of parking spaces using a smartphone outside the vehicle as a remote control. The package also includes (standard equipment in the Tayron Elegance) V2X (environmental warning system), an anti-theft alarm system, the electrically operated boot lid and the Keyless Access locking and starting system.
IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights. The IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights offer added comfort and safety. HD stands for High Definition, meaning a high resolution of the light sources. In each headlight, 19,200 multipixel LEDs illuminate the road and the surrounding area to a new level and therefore improve comfort and safety. Each of Tayron’s headlights comprises three modules: a bi-matrix module for the main beam background matrix is located on the outside. The HD matrix module is located in the middle with the 19,200 individually controllable LEDs that allow various light functions as well as cornering light to be realised. Located on the inside is a smaller projection module for the static cornering light and the poor weather light. Thanks to the HD matrix headlights, the Tayron can also project a carpet of light onto the lane, the Lane Light. This Lane Light makes driving at night more comfortable because the bright light carpet follows the lane precisely. The driver is also supported by an orientation light function in road works and on narrow road sections. The glare-free main beam is one of the other benefits of these headlights. Depending on the speed and ambient light, this can be continuously active if desired because the oncoming traffic and vehicles driving in front are masked precisely thanks to the 38,400 individually activatable and deactivatable LEDs.
DCC Pro. The damping control system of the DCC Pro adaptive chassis control reacts continuously to the road conditions and driving situation and analyses parameters such as steering, braking and acceleration. The ideal damping is calculated for each wheel and is adjusted via the shock absorbers within fractions of a second. The driver has the option of individually adjusting the DCC Pro system to settings ranging from very comfortable to very sporty. The new DCC generation is distinguished by new two-valve shock absorbers compared with the DCC version with single-valve shock absorbers known from other models. Also new is the control algorithm for separate rebound and compression control. The faster two-valve shock absorbers enable an even better and quieter connection to be achieved between the body and chassis at the same time as enhanced driving dynamics. The lateral dynamics components of the adaptive chassis control are controlled and optimised by the Tayron’s Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which is always on board as standard; this additionally coordinates the functions of the electronic differential locks (EDL plus XDS+) and – depending on equipment – the 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
