Conventional steering systems use a constant steering ratio. As the name implies, progressive steering is based on a progressive steering ratio. This significantly reduces the effort required for low-speed maneuvering and parking. On twisting roads and at junctions, the driver will notice a more dynamic response as a result of the more direct steering. In addition, the need to change hands is significantly reduced. In technical terms, progressive steering features variable tooth spacing on the rack and pinion and a more powerful electric motor than the standard electromechanical steering.
