In future, vehicles will be able to identify and use the direction of a driver’s view via eye tracking. At the CES in Las Vegas in 2017, Volkswagen presented the 3-D Active Info Display, the first system using eye tracking. This technology means that information does not need to be displayed permanently on the screen. Graphic animations are called up in a targeted way when the driver looks at the screen. At the same time, users can reach the control they need faster as intermediate steps in the menu can be omitted.
