Dual-clutch gearbox (DSG)

The 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (250 Nm) by Volkswagen

All models from the Polo to the Arteon may be equipped with automatic dual-clutch gearboxes (DSG). Six-speed and seven-speed DSG gearboxes are available. Both versions are extremely economical and offer unprecedented gearshift dynamics. Apart from the number of forward gears, the DSG gearboxes are equipped with different types of clutch. The gearboxes designed for low torque values feature two dry clutches while the units designed for higher torque values are equipped with wet clutches running in a sump. There is one thing that applies to all these gearboxes: even the most experienced driver cannot shift gear anywhere near as fast as a DSG.
