In conjunction with 4Motion all-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG), the engine with 184 PS (135 kW)1, mainly known from the Golf GTD, provides the perfect combination of sportiness and efficiency. This engine and gearbox combination is also available on the special Allstar model and as well as special equipment specifications comes with a five-year warranty.
With 184 PS and 380 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm, the 2.0 TDI engine known from the Golf GTD gives the Sharan its sovereign acceleration and pulling power – even when towing a trailer. Its 7-speed dual clutch gearbox comes as standard and distributes the power delivery so smoothly that both driving off and bursts of acceleration are extremely comfortable and confident. With its enormous luggage capacity of 2,430 litres, a towing load of 2,400 kilograms and its electronically controlled all-wheel drive, which ensures the best possible traction and stable driving even on loose surfaces, the Sharan is ideally equipped for special tasks. So it's able to take the transportation of even the heaviest boat trailers or horse trailers in its stride. Riders in particular would like to be able to keep an eye on their horses in the trailer even while on the road. Thanks to Cam-Connect, this is now possible on board the Sharan. Volkswagen's "Composition Media", "Discover Media" and "Discover Pro" infotainment systems have the option of being fitted with the Car-Net App Connect and its "Mirror Link®", which can also be connected to a camera – the GoPro® Hero 4. This is simply attached in the trailer using GoPro® accessories. As usual today with any smartphone and tablet, only an app needs to be loaded: the free Car-Net Cam Connect app. The GoPro® image is transferred onto the display in the car via "Mirror Link®" and an Android phone connected to the infotainment system. For safety reasons, during the trip the software sends only still images to the infotainment system's screen, updated every five seconds.
