In the ID. models, We Connect also makes it possible to charge and air-condition the car remotely.
Keep your distance: ACC
Travel Assist comes with Active Cruise Control (ACC). In many models, ACC is also available separately, and comes as standard in the top-of-the-range models. When behind another car, the system maintains the distance defined by the drive. In some of the latest Volkswagen models, ACC is predictive: it uses signals from the front camera and route data to integrate speed limits, the edges of built-up areas, junctions and roundabouts, which can be particularly helpful on unfamiliar roads whilst on holiday.
Fusion of display and reality: the augmented reality head-up display
In the ID. models from the ID.3 to the ID.5, Volkswagen offers the optional augmented reality head-up display, which makes orientation even easier on all roads. It projects navigation symbols and information from some assistance systems onto a large area on the window. The display is dynamic: when the car is approaching a junction, the arrows indicate the direction to take, increasing in size but at the same time transparent, so they don’t impair visibility.
A second, flat display window is located under the large window. It presents the speed, traffic signs, and assistance and navigation symbols as static displays. This helps the driver to take in the key data quickly whilst driving.
Intuitive displays: ID. Light
Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. models have ID. Light on board. The narrow strip of light under the windscreen is particularly helpful to the driver when they are somewhere unfamiliar.
