Effective as of May 1, 2023, Christiane Engel will take over as Spokesperson of the Management Board and Managing Director of the Technology Division of Volkswagen’s site in Osnabrück. Christiane Engel has years of international experience in production and recently headed up Quality Assurance at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand in Wolfsburg. Her predecessor Jörn Hasenfuß is ending his active career in the Volkswagen Group after more than 36 years and is leaving the company under a retirement program.
Christian Vollmer, Production Board Member of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and Supervisory Board Chairman of Volkswagen Osnabrück, commented, “Jörn Hasenfuß played a vital role in ensuring that we will continue to produce innovative, attractive models for our customers in Osnabrück in the years to come. We would like to thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best for this new chapter in life. At the same time, I am delighted to welcome Christiane Engel, an internationally experienced executive, as the new Managing Director of the Technology Division and Spokesperson of the Management Board. Christiane Engel has a broad range of experience in Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance and Production that will ideally supplement that of the other Board members. I firmly believe that thanks to her high level of expertise and her leadership qualities, she is best equipped to successfully master the new challenge.”
Christiane Engel began her career in the industrial engineering department at Volkswagen Sachsen in 1992. Having held other senior management posts at Volkswagen, she moved to Auto5000 GmbH in Wolfsburg in 2001 to assume responsibility for work and factory organization. She was in charge of industrial engineering at the Chattanooga plant (USA) of Volkswagen Group of America from 2009. In 2012, Christiane Engel assumed responsibility for work organization and industrial engineering at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. In 2018, she was appointed Plant Director at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles plant in Września, Poland – the first woman in the Volkswagen Group to take up such an appointment. Christiane Engel has headed Quality Assurance at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand since June 1, 2020.
Christiane Engel’s now vacant position as head of Quality Assurance at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand will be filled shortly.
